Bear World

Bear World Yellowstone is just an hour up the road from us on the way to Mandi's house and every time we drive past we say "We have got to take Landon there. He would go nuts over it." So we decided that for his birthday this year in lieu of getting any presents we would take him to Bear World. We REALLY wanted for him to do the experience where you get to feed the baby bears, but when we looked into it you have to be 5. Boo. So we settled on just the regular excursion where you get to feed the adult bears. It was not nearly as exciting but we pretended like it was.

We did get to watch the workers feed the baby bears though before we headed off on the truck. The boys were a hair disappointed that they only got to throw bread out for the bears instead of raw meat. But the bears would come right up to the truck and eat the bread. We got there early in the morning and all the bears were awake and active which was really fun. After feeding the bears we went into the petting zoo. Koyle was in love with the big fat pig they had- of course!
The deer were so friendly and Landon thought it was pretty neat he got to pet a real live deer; it even tried nibbling the strap on his shoe!
We found a mama duck with her eggs. The peacock kept pestering her all day and she had to protect her nest.
Then we made our way to the roller coasters where we spent the majority of the afternoon. There were no lines and they were pretty decent little roller coasters and fair rides so the boys got to ride them over and over and over. Who knew Lincoln would love rides so much? He couldn't get enough of them. Even Landon (and Koyle) loved the big roller coaster and wasn't scared a bit.
When mom and dad finally tired of the roller coaster fun we sat and watched the baby bears play and fight with each other for a while. I could have sat there all day and watched them-they were so adorable.

We finished the day eating our PB&J lunches in the car while we drove through the park ourselves. There really are so many bears at Bear World! Towards the end a pretty big bear walked right up in front of our car. Their rule is do not stop for any reason, but we slowed way down and he just wasn't moving out of the way. So we had to stop and he came right up and sniffed all around the car and by my window. It was pretty awesome but a little scary cause you realize that if at any moment that bear got mad you would be toast.

It was literally only a minute that we were stopped before he had moved to the side and we started slowing moving again, but they were on us and had a little car come driving by and telling us to keep moving. Even thought it cost us a small fortune, it was a great day to celebrate sweet Landy Boy and his passion for bears.

I LOVE BEAR WORLD--LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Not sure why, just thought it was so fun to see them so close and what they looked like in real life. I wanted to see the baby bears too, but we were too late when we went last year. So glad the boys got to go!
