Marching through March

March felt like a series of filler activities between larger anticipated events. It brought some beautiful spring days, along with lots of wind.
Landon loves doing "monkey face" and it always cracks me up.
One day when the weather was especially warm, but also especially windy, we decided to get out and go for a special walk. We went to one of our favorite walking trails that we sometimes forget to visit and we always wonder why we don't go more often. It was so refreshing to enjoy the scenery of the water, throw rocks in the water, look at all the dead fish floating...

This is a view I love!

Another day we went to the Windmill Museum with the Carlsons and Clarks. I have heard about this place but never gone because it cost to get it. But we figured we would splurge for spring break (it cost us a whopping $10-we're big spenders). It was really fun. I'm not sure I would pay money to go again and again but it was definitely a fun outing. They had a mural room that was really beautiful; the whole thing was this giant painting of West Texas back in the days of the windmills. They had a scavenger hunt of things for the kids to find in the painting. While we were letting the kids run around in the open space and older gentlemen came by who works there and starting sharing stories with us and pointing things out in the pictures. After our tour of the painting he took us around the exhibits and pointed out some of the more interesting items and told us the stories about them. It made the experience that much more memorable and Matthew and I, being the nerds of the family, loved learning all about the windmills.
This was definitely my favorite thing, even though it wasn't a windg mill. These are real nests (they had 3 there) that have been found and brought in to the museum. Because there isn't a lot of wood around this area of the country, the ravens will sometimes make their nests out of barbed wire! Seriously, that whole nest is made out of metal wires. I'm not sure how cozy it was to live in, but it sure makes a beautiful work of nature to marvel at.
Lizzy, Madilyn, Koyle, Miles, Matthew
It was really cold inside and Matthew was certain he was going to freeze before we went outside.

It was a lovely spring day with just the right amount of breeze to make the windmills spin. It made me want to build a windmill at my house someday.
This was Matthew's favorite windmill. The picture doesn't capture it well but it looked really pretty when it spun around.
This was another favorite. There was a neat story about this one but I can't remember it now. Maybe its a replica, or perhaps the actual windmill of the first settlers in America?
I thought this gate was absolutely adorable and maybe I'll make me one of these too someday.
Of course we had some fun digging out in the dirt while soaking up some sun. Can you tell that it was St. Patrick's Day? Koyle collected weeds to put in his tackle box to feed the catfish. Landon was making pig food for the animals. Matthew was playing his Winnie the Pooh game where he sweeps. They spent the whole afternoon out in the back.We also went a little crazy using up our extra chalk powder from the gender reveal and water painting with it on the driveway.

Koyle got to go to the Amarillo Zoo with the Carlsons during match day. It turned out to be a blustery cold day, so they had the zoo to themselves! The kids enjoyed lunch at Chick-fil-A just as much as the zoo I think.
Landon's face in this picture cracks me up. Landon LOVES to cook and anytime I am making dinner he has to get his own pan out and cook with me.
Landon has a special love for babies. He calls them "dabda" He especially loves Maizy and even knows her name. Whenever we babysit or they come over he gets so excited and hangs out and helps with the baby the whole time. I can't wait for him to have his own little "dabda" to play with. Hopefully he is as sweet with his brother as he is with other babies.
Landon got a fishing set for Christmas and we left the net in Idaho at Grandma's house. She sent it in her Easter package and Landon was so excited to be reunited with his net. He slept with it that night and has gotten plenty of play time out of it since.
Nothing like sweet sleeping boys. I showed Koyle this blanket one day because he was asking about his different baby blankets and he has been sleeping with it in his bed ever since. This is the quilt aunt Jacque made for his crib when he was born.

It's sideways-but just my three sweet boys all together.
And whenever there's fun and play, there has to be some crash and rest time! Koyle has been Justin's sports buddy this month and they are always watching basketball together.
