My mom and dad came to visit and we were so excited! It was the first time they had been to our house in Texas and so even though we had a newborn we tried to still have some fun with them. It actually worked out better that baby came early because by mid-week of them being here I was feeling good enough to get out and do some things.
Lubbock didn't let us down; they got a good taste of the wind. It always feels good to have your opinion validated that Lubbock is not the place I wish to settle down forever in: too dusty, too windy, too ugly. My mom did not enjoy trying to run in the dust and wind.
We had a lot of fun while they were here. Grandma and Grandpa were great to spend lots of time just hanging out at home and playing with the boys. This was especially nice the first part of the week when Landon was still eating all the time and I was still regaining my energy and strength.
We did movie night and made caramel popcorn-yum! Koyle kept saying he was Grandpa's buddy and he always wanted to sit with Grandpa. It was hilarious at one point he was acting out what he saw on t.v. and he gave Grandpa a great big kiss!
Pinterest gave us a few fun ideas. My mom did this fun game with the boys and she also made some neat playdough stuff out of cornstarch and conditioner that they boys played with for a long time.
We had lots of cowboy time. The boys have been loving their cowboy boots and rope lately. Grandpa Russ showed Matthew how to tie a real cowboy knot and he would rope the boys as they ran around as animals.
Grandpa built model rockets with the boys. Matthew sat right there with him and helped put the whole thing together.
We went over to the field early one morning to beat the wind for our rocket launch. They worked awesome and the boys loved it. Such fun!
Koyle had a lot of moments like this. It was a bit of a rough week for him with everyone throwing off his groove : )
We couldn't let Grandma and Grandpa leave without taking them to our favorite place-the train! My dad actually really enjoyed looking at all the houses just like I knew he would. And Koyle was so excited to be at the train place, and with Grandma and Grandpa in tow.
We found this giant tumbleweed in our yard one day and Matthew thought it was awesome! I'm not gonna lie, I thought it was picture worthy too.
How does your garden grow? Very well when you give it some love. A big thanks to my dad for helping us get our garden looking great again. He bought us a new tomato and pepper plant since ours had really taken a beating in the wind. We rigged up this new wind block with an old sheet I had on hand and it has been working fabulous. Our garden is doing fabulous and the dead pepper and tomato plant have even come back to life! This weekend we hooked up a dripper system and put an automatic timer on our house so hopefully the garden will still be alive when we get back from Idaho. My dad also bought me a beautiful flower for my front porch and some strawberries for my other pot.
My parents got to come to a couple of Matthew's t-ball games. Of course it was super windy at both of them. It was fun to have them there to cheer him on.
On Friday Justin took a test and afterwards there was an end of year party for all the 2nd years. The kids loved the big blow up toys, but mostly they loved hanging out with their dad who had been studying nonstop all week.
