That night we hurried back to the hotel to soak our tired legs in the hot tub before it closed-only to find out that there was NO hot tub. So much for it being a good deal, haha. Saturday we had an awesome, full course, delicious, continental breakfast (maybe it was a good deal, at least Justin's stomach thought so) and headed off again. We spent the morning in the Holocaust Museum-very awesome. Then we walked to the Capitol building and had lunch on the steps.
We then hopped back on the Metro and went to Arlington Cemetary. We got to see the Changing of the Guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was super funny because these two kids sat down in the middle and the lieutenant yelled at them to stand up- a lesson I'm sure those kids will never forget! They looked pretty scared. The precision of the ceremony is amazing. Even when he yelled at the kids it was still right in line and perfectly orchestrated. We then saw JFK's gravesite which was pretty neat. That was all we saw cause we both really needed a bathroom break and it was getting late. Justin really wanted to see the Pentagon so we stopped to see it but the Visitor Center was closed and it was pretty uneventful-just the front of a building (it looked cooler driving by on the interstate). But we got to see where they were still making some repairs on the building where the airplane crashed. Then we went back to the hotel and got our car and headed off to the temple. The temple was of course wonderful.
After a dinner stop at Wendy's we were on our way home. Carissa couldn't keep her eyes awake so Justin called all of his family and talked to them to stay awake! We finally made it home at 1:10 and went straight to bed. All in all, a wonderful weekend!
